Robert Michael Gates, né le 25 septembre 1943 à Wichita , est un historien et homme politique américain membre du Parti républicain. Entre 1989 et 1991, il est conseiller adjoint au Conseil national de sécurité durant la présidence de George H. W. Bush , puis est directeur de la Central Intelligence Agency entre 1991 et 1993.
