Gilbert Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound, 2nd Earl of Minto GCB PC (16 November 1782 – 31 July 1859), styled as Viscount Melgund between 1813 and 1814, was a British diplomat and Whig politician. En 1794, Elliot est nommé vice-roi du Royaume anglo-corse. Avec cette charge, il rencontrera Pasquale Paoli et Charles André Pozzo di Borgo, offrant sa protection durant les années d'exil de ce dernier [1]. Il reçoit le titre de baron de Minto en 1797 et ajoute à son nom celui de Murray-Kynynmond.
