Nascida em 1996, Birdy iniciou sua trajetória aos 12 anos, quando venceu a competição Open Mic UK. Em 2011, com apenas 14 anos, Birdy lançou um cover da música “Skinny Love”, de Bon Iver, que chegou às paradas britânicas e se tornou um sucesso nas rádios, além de aparecer em um episódio da série The Vampire Diaries.
