Whilst there I read a fair bit of Beryl Bainbridge; including The Dressmaker, Young Adolf, Master Georgie and this, An Awfully Big Adventure, which is probably the best of a good bunch. I'd seen the film a few times, but reading the novel on which it is based has given me a greater appreciation and, on my return, I decided a rewatch was in order.
