Mike Hawthorn n'a remporté que trois victoires durant sa carrière en F1, ce qui est peu pour un Champion du Monde. Né à Mexborough, Mike assiste à quelques courses automobiles sur le circuit de Brookland. Avec l'aide de son père, garagiste dans le Surrey, il commence la course automobile en 1950 à Brighton.

Mike Hawthorn's Funeral took place on 28th January 1959 at West Street Cemetery in Farnham, Surrey - his home town - after a service in the Parish Church. Mike's Mother wanted a private funeral - despite this, the church was occupied by more than two hundred mourners with a similar number outside.

But in reality, he didn't even manage to make 30: he died on 22 January 1959 as the result of a banal road accident, the circumstances of which were never quite clear. Just 95 days had passed since he claimed his one and only F1 world title.
