John Thaw CBE (3 January 1942 - 21 February 2002) was a British actor. Thaw was born in Longsight , and grew up in Gorton and Burnage , all areas of south Manchester . He is best known for his starring roles in The Sweeney , Inspector Morse and Kavanagh QC .

John Thaw var en britisk skuespiller. Thaw spilte teater og gjorde en del filmroller etter debuten i en mindre rolle i The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (Ensom seier, 1962), men ble mest kjent gjennom fjernsynsserier.
