TV Special Part live stand-up performance, part documentary, this film is one of comedian Richard Pryor's later stand-up performances. As foul-mouthed as ever, Pryor touches on most of the same topics as in his previous live shows.
--Backstage: Pryor get his shoes shined by an old man (also played by Pryor). --Bar sketch with Pryor as an alcoholic (and John Belushi as the bartender). --2nd part of bar sketch: Pryor's character arrives at home. Maya Angelou plays his wife. --Backstage: Children suggest to Pryor that he do something educational on his special.

Richard Pryor was the best on stage comedian ever. The Richard Pryor Show was ahead of its time and would have been a hugh success on cable (i.e. HBO, Comedy Central, TV One). Network TV was not ready for this show. Richard Pryor's story telling and ability to bring characters in his skits alive was phenomenal.
