Lady Irene Haig was born on 7 October 1919 and served with the British Red Cross during the Second World War. On 4 October 1945, she married Gavin Astor, later the 2nd Baron Astor of Hever. Upon his father's death in 1971, her husband succeeded to the barony and Irene became the Baroness Astor of Hever (addressed as Lady Astor).
Liz Astor worked as a model and a head hunter before her marriage to Baron Astor. Astor has written two books, a memoir and a novel. Loving Olivia: Bringing Up My Autistic Daughter recounts her experience with younger daughter Olivia's autism. In Astor's novel, Since You Went Away, she fictionalized her mother's life story.

Irene Astor, Baronin Astor von Hever (7. Oktober 1919 - 12. August 2001) war eine englische Philanthropin und Mitglied der Astor-Familie .
