26 de abr. de 2022 · Lady Mary Ruthven was the daughter of William Ruthven, 1st Earl of Gowrie and Dorothea Stewart.[1] She married, firstly, John Stewart, 5th Earl of Atholl, son of John Stewart, 4th Earl of Atholl and Margaret Fleming, on 24 January 1579/80 at Perth, Perthshire, Scotland.[1]

There were plans in 1591 for Dorothea Stewart, Countess of Gowrie to marry William Keith of Delny but James VI forbade it. [21] John and Alexander Ruthven were killed on 5 August 1600 as the main characters in The Gowrie Conspiracy, a failed attempt to kidnap or murder James VI.
