Lazare Nicolas Marguerite Carnot ( Nolay, 1753. május 13. – Magdeburg, 1823. augusztus 2.) francia tábornok, politikus, tudós, a Nemzeti Konvent tagja. Őt tartják „a győzelem megszervezőjének”, de „Nagy Carnot” -nak is nevezik.
Hippolyte Carnot lived at first in exile with his father, returning to France only in 1823. Unable then to enter active political life, he turned to literature and philosophy, publishing in 1828 a collection of Chants helléniques translated from the German of W. Müller, and in 1830 an Exposé de la doctrine Saint-Simonienne , and collaborating in the Saint-Simonian journal Le Producteur.
They had three sons: Sadi Carnot, an important mathematician with a biography in this archive, was born on 19 July 1794; Nicolas Léonard Sadi Carnot was born on 1 June 1796, he became a physicist who worked on thermodynamics; and Lazare Hippolyte Carnot, born 6 April 1801, who became a journalist and then Minister of Public Instruction and a member of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences.
Su segundo hijo, Lazare Hippolyte Carnot, fue un estadista francés. Su nieto Marie François Sadi Carnot (hijo de Hippolyte) fue Presidente de Francia desde 1887 hasta su asesinato en 1894. Su obra escrita Réflexions sur la métaphysique du calcul infinitésimal, 1797 Lazare Carnot, estatua en su ciudad natal, Nolay (1753).
Lazare Hippolyte Carnot (Saint-Omer (Pas-de-Calais) 6 d'abril de 1801 - París 16 de març de 1888), fou un polític francès durant la Tercera República Francesa. La seva tomba es pot veure al parisenc Cementiri del Père-Lachaise .
