20 de mai. de 2024 · Her Majesty’s Yacht Britannia. While Dave was traveling back to the US for graduation, Deb visited the Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh. It is the former royal yacht of the British Monarchy and was in service from 1954 until 1997. Today it is a floating museum and is open to the public.

While she was in service, there was always a 'Yottie' appointed, nicknamed 'Snaps', to take photographs of life on board the Royal Yacht. In keeping with this tradition, we now have our own Photographer in Residence, who has been capturing our very own Weekly 'Snaps' - a collection of snapshots of life around the ship today.

But she was not a favourite with all who sailed her. “In a rough sea, she could roll like an elephant on wet grass,” one royal yachtsman told me. Many people like to see a real working warship, the bigger, the better.

12 de mai. de 2024 · Casey Rust, head of marketing at the Royal Yacht Britannia said: “Being an attraction that’s been based in Ocean Terminal for over 20 years, there are challenges with messaging and wayfinding, however the ultimate goal is we will get a band new visitor centre and a new shop.” Other businesses are already pulling in the benefits.
