(fn. 56) His grandson and heir Henry Stafford, Duke of Buckingham, was beheaded in November 1483 for plotting against Richard III, and was attainted.

Shortly afterwards he fell under the king's displeasure through having refused to assist the Earl of Pembroke in suppressing Sir John Conyers' rebellion, and was beheaded and attainted on 24 August 1469.
