Major General Hon. Sir Frederick Cavendish Ponsonby GCMG KCB KCH (6 July 1783 – 11 January 1837) was an Anglo-Irish military officer.

18 de jun. de 2010 · At Waterloo, Sir Frederick was attached to the 12th Light Dragoons, who were ordered, along with the 16th Light Dragoons, to charge down a slope to support the withdrawal of the Union Brigade of heavy cavalry, which was being led by his second cousin, William Ponsonby, who lost his life that day.
Biography. Born in Corfu, he was the son of Major-General Sir Frederick Cavendish Ponsonby, an Anglo-Irish nobleman who was a senior commander in the British Army . He entered the army on 27 December 1842 as an ensign in the 49th Regiment of Foot.
Biography. Ponsonby began his military career in the Prince of Wales’s regiment. In 1802 he visited the Continent with Lord and Lady Holland.
