James Sarsfield, 2nd Earl of Lucan (1693-1719), was a French-born Jacobite of Irish descent. He was the son of Patrick Sarsfield, 1st Earl of Lucan and his wife Honora Burke.

History. Patrick Sarsfield was one of the senior commanders of James VII & II (deposed in 1688) in battles in Ireland with William of Orange which determined the latter's takeover with his co-regnant wife, Mary II of England, of the English, Scottish and Irish thrones (the Glorious Revolution and First Jacobite Wars).
When James Francis Edward Sarsfield, 2nd Earl of Lucan was born on 30 March 1693, in Paris, Île-de-France, France, his father, Marshall Patrick Sarsfield 1st Earl of Lucan, was 36 and his mother, Honorina de Bourk y McCarthy. Condesa vda. de Lucán, was 19. He had at least 1 son.
Sarsfield, Patrick (d. 1693), soldier, lst earl of Lucan , was the second son, and youngest of five children, of Patrick Sarsfield and his wife Anne, daughter of Rory O'More (qv), a leader of the 1641 rebellion.
In 1689, Sarsfield married the 15-year-old Honora Burke (1674–1698), daughter of William Burke, 7th Earl of Clanricarde; they had one son, James Sarsfield, 2nd Earl of Lucan (1693–1719). After Sarsfield's death, she married James FitzJames, 1st Duke of Berwick, eldest but illegitimate son of James II of England.
27 de abr. de 2022 · James Francis Edward Sarsfield, 2nd Earl of Lucan (1693–1719), served in both the French and Spanish armies. He died unmarried in St Omer aged twenty-six. With his death, the Earldom of Lucan became extinct.
Jacobite earl of Lucan. Born to a catholic family, Sarsfield entered the Irish army in 1678. He then served in the English regiments which Charles II detached to fight in the army of Louis XIV of France, but returned to England at the succession of James II in 1685, and helped to crush Monmouth's rising.
