    The study period extends over a period of at least two years. A student must meet all the requirements for the LLD degree within four years after registration. Should insufficient progress not be made the studies may be terminated.

  2. A Doctor of Philosophy degree is awarded on the successful submission of a doctoral thesis which should make a substantial contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the field of investigation. The length of the thesis should be between 70 000 and 100 000 words.

  3. Doctoral. The Doctor of Laws programme can only be undertaken by research. It is available to persons who have the Master of Laws or the Master of Philosophy in Human Rights or any other qualification that the UFH Senate may consider equivalent to the LLM degree.

  4. PhDs in Law can be done either purely in Law or through an interdisciplinary approach. Candidates for the PhD may qualify for admission if they have: a master’s degree. an honours degree, or a four-year bachelor's degree, plus at least one year's registration for a masters degree.
