  5. Origins. This regiment was formed as The Royal Lancers in 2015 by amalgamating the 9th/12th Royal Lancers and The Queen’s Royal Lancers. It serves in an armoured cavalry role, specialising in reconnaissance and using Scimitar and Panther vehicles to manoeuvre across the battlefield.
