Pryor Creek or Pryor is a city in and county seat of Mayes County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 8,659 at the 2000 census and 9,539 in the 2010 census.

Pryor Creek is the county seat and the largest town in Mayes County. It lies in the northeastern corner of the state, about an hour's drive northeast of Tulsa. U.S. Highway 69 as well as State Highway 20 and the Union Pacific Railroad (formerly Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railway) run through the town.

The man was Captain Nathaniel Pryor, an explorer with a rich past as a member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, a veteran of the War of 1812, husband to an Osage Indian as well as agent for the Osage tribe.
