Maurie D. McInnis is an American author and cultural historian. She currently serves as the sixth president of Stony Brook University and on July 1, 2024, will start her appointment as the twenty-fourth president of Yale University.

McInnis, now president of Stony Brook University, was the unanimous choice of the Yale Board of Trustees, Josh Bekenstein ’80, senior trustee and chair of the presidential search committee, said Wednesday in a message to the Yale community.
President-elect Maurie McInnis has spent three decades in higher education, holding teaching, research, and administrator roles. For nearly two of those decades, she has held a range of leadership positions at three iconic universities. She will become the twenty-fourth president of Yale University on July 1.
Maurie McInnis is the sixth president of Stony Brook University, one of America’s leading public universities, an internationally recognized research institution and New York's flagship university.
