The Georgium is a princely palace in Dessau, Germany. It was built for Johann Georg von Anhalt-Dessau, younger brother of Leopold III, Duke of Anhalt-Dessau. It now houses the Anhaltische Gemäldegalerie art gallery.
Beside the Wörlitzer Park, the Georgium is the most significant landscape garden in the English style in the Gartenreich Dessau-Wörlitz. It was created by hereditary prince Johann Georg (1748–1811), the younger brother of Prince Franz, and is named after him.
In the Dessau Georgium, it is the contrasts of conscious garden design and untouched nature, of classicist architecture and romantic ruins that enchant. And just a few steps away you will find another World Heritage Site with the historic Bauhaus.
Georgium Palace and Park This park area within Dessau town precincts, consisting of the palace, Georg Garden, Beckerbruch forest and marsh and the wet meadows by the Elbe, is the second-largest landscaped park in the Garden Kingdom.
