Emil Schürer (2 May 1844 – 20 April 1910) was a German Protestant theologian known mainly for his study of the history of the Jews around the time of Jesus ' ministry. Biography. Schürer was born in Augsburg.

Born in Augsburg, Germany, the son of a merchant, Schürer studied theology at the universities of Erlangen, Berlin, and Heidelberg. In Heidelberg he was particularly influenced by Richard Rothe.
