Walter Stewart, Earl of Atholl, Strathearn and Caithness (c. 1360 – 26 March 1437) was a Scottish nobleman, the son of Robert II of Scotland. Stewart advocated for the ransom and return to Scotland of the future king in exile, James I, in 1424.

Detinha os seguintes títulos: Conde de Menteith (a partir de 28 de fevereiro de 1361, por direito de casamento), Conde de Fife (desde 1361; renunciou em 1372), Conde de Buchan (desde 1394; renunciou em 1406) e Conde de Atholl (desde 1403, e apenas durante o tempo de vida de seu irmão Roberto III).
Os Duques de Atholl pertencem a uma antiga família escocesa. Sir William Murray de Castleton casou com Lady Margaret, filha de John Stewart, 1.º Conde de Atholl (ver Conde de Atholl). Sir William foi um dos muitos nobres escoceses mortos no Batalha de Flodden em 1513. Seu filho Sir William Murray morava na Tullibardine em Perthshire.
