Peru has a population of over 32 million, and its capital and largest city is Lima. At 1,285,216 km 2 (496,225 sq mi), Peru is the 19th largest country in the world, and the third largest in South America .
Peru, oficialmente chamado de República do Peru, é um país sul-americano limitado ao norte pelo Equador e pela Colômbia, a leste pelo Brasil e pela Bolívia e ao sul pelo Chile. O seu litoral, a oeste, é banhado pelo oceano Pacífico.
Peru, officially the Republic of Peru, is a country in western South America. It is bordered in the north by Ecuador and Colombia, in the east by Brazil, in the southeast by Bolivia, in the south by Chile, and in the south and west by the Pacific Ocean.
Lima was named by natives in the agricultural region known by native Peruvians as Limaq. It became the capital and most important city in the Viceroyalty of Peru. Following the Peruvian War of Independence, it became the capital of the Republic of Peru (República del Perú).
