  3. The Isenheim Altarpiece is an altarpiece sculpted and painted by, respectively, the Germans Nikolaus of Haguenau and Matthias Grünewald in 1512–1516. [1] It is on display at the Unterlinden Museum at Colmar, Alsace, in France. It is Grünewald's largest work and is regarded as his masterpiece.

  5. 8 de fev. de 2023 · The Isenheim Altarpiece (c. 1512 – 1516) by Matthias Grünewald and Nikolaus of Haguenau was created as a commission by Guy Guers from the Saint Anthony’s Monastery. This was also a hospital, in Isenheim, in Alsace, France, and acted as a visual balm for the patients who were being treated for Ergotism.

St. Anthony was a patron saint of those suffering from skin diseases.
