The Spandau Citadel (German: Zitadelle Spandau) is a fortress in Berlin, Germany, one of the best-preserved Renaissance military structures of Europe. Built from 1559–94 atop a medieval fort on an island near the meeting of the Havel and the Spree, it was designed to protect the town of Spandau, which is now part of Berlin

Berlin’s Spandau Citadel, the impressive Zitadelle Renaissance fortress, hosts exhibitions, concerts, plays and medieval festivals – and night-time bat tours!
VISITOR INFORMATION. Opening Times. The Citadel can be visited at 365 days a year: Monday-Sunday from 10 a.m. till 5. p.m. (last entrance 4.30 p.m.) Admission. (including Museums, Julius Tower, Exhibitions): Adults 4,50 €. Child / Commission 2,50 €. (children 6-14 years, students). Family 10,- € (2 adults + up to 3 children, 6-14 years).
As one of the best-preserved Renaissance fortresses in Germany, the Spandau Citadel offers visitors an impression of how people tried to protect themselves from enemies in the 16th century. Once visitors have passed the small bridge over the moat, the view opens up to numerous historic buildings.
