    The album was first announced on March 31, 2014. L.A. Reid first visited Timbaland to discuss the album sometime in 2013.

    The work would take 2 years to finish and the first teaser was released on Apr 21, 2014.

    •A track-by-track commentary on the album, was released on streaming services the same day as Xscape itself.

    •On May 1 2014, "Love Never Felt So Good" would be presented for the first time during the iHeartRadio Music Awards. The performance featured Usher alongside multiple dancers.

    •Even though it wasn't a single, "Slave to the Rhythm" managed to get a live performance on May 18 at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards using the "Pepper's Ghost" technique (often referred to as a hologram). It received mixed reviews as some fans said the dance moves weren't as smooth or that the illusion didn't even look like Michael.

    •As it's currently known, Sony Music's chief executive: Rob Stringer stated few years ago there are no plans for any more full-fledged posthumous albums like Michael or Xscape. This makes Xscape the final studio album released under Michael Jackson's name, not including the anniversary releases.
