Wenders lives and works in Berlin with his wife, Donata. He has lived in Berlin since the mid-1970s. [37] He is an ecumenical Christian; as a teenager he wished to become a Catholic priest. [38]
Donata Wenders was born in Berlin in 1965. She studied film and theatre in Berlin and Stuttgart and began her artistic career as a cinematographer for feature films and documentaries. Since 1995 she has been working as a freelance photographer.
Perfect Days is a 2023 drama film directed by Wim Wenders from a script written by Wenders and Takuma Takasaki. A co-production between Japan and Germany, the film follows the routine life of Hirayama (Kōji Yakusho), a public toilet cleaner in Tokyo.
