He was born Manfred Koslowski in Germany in 1944, to Polish and Russian parents, and his family emigrated to Canada when he was six years old. "I had a very strict upbringing -- strict to the point of mental and physical abuse from my father, who had been a Prussian soldier," Koslo reveals.
