Manjhi, widely known as the "Mountain Man", was a poor labourer in Gehlaur village, near Gaya in Bihar, India, who carved a path 9.1 metres (30 ft) wide and 110 metres (360 ft) long through a hill 7.6 metres (25 ft) high, using only a hammer and chisel.

Dashrath Manjhi (14 January 1934 – 17 August 2007), also known as Mountain Man, was an Indian laborer from Gehlaur village, near Gaya in the eastern state of Bihar.
Dashrath Manjhi, também conhecido como "Homem Montanha", fugiu de sua casa quando jovem e trabalhou em Dhanbad nas minas de carvão. Ele voltou para sua aldeia e se casou com Phalguni Devi. Ao cruzar a montanha Gehlour para trazer-lhe o almoço, ela escorregou e feriu-se gravemente, o que levou à sua morte.
