  6. Her one surviving signature spells her name "Katheryn" but such a spelling is no longer used. Her chief biographer, Lacey Baldwin Smith, uses the common modern spelling "Catherine"; other historians, for example Antonia Fraser, use the traditional English spelling of "Katherine".
