  2. The Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet is a school of classical ballet in St Petersburg, Russia. Established in 1738 during the reign of Empress Anna, the academy was known as the Imperial Ballet School until the Soviet era, when, after a brief hiatus, the school was re-established as the Leningrad State Choreographic Institute.

  3. A masterful and astute teacher, Vaganova developed a codified and comprehensive syllabus that established a new era in ballet education. In 1957, six years after Vaganovas death, the School was named after her. Throughout its history, the Vaganova Ballet Academy has endeavored to preserve and enhance the best traditions of the classical heritage.

  4. The Vaganova Ballet Academy offers annual International Trainee Program of ballet education for ballet students aged 16-20 from September 01 to June 30. Candidates for VITP are admitted through audition during the entire year.
