50/50 means that you're put into a situation where you have to defend against 2 options that can't be defended against at the same time ( a block and throw, or an overhead and low typically). Tick throw is when you use an attack and then a throw immediately after.
Since we're replacing the true5050 system, why not just make it always a true 50/50 instead of the timer? Sure, it makes it easier to see both, but does that truly matter? The fun roulette aspect is still there with the first click, and that's the most important part.
