Princess Margarita died in Farnham, Surrey, on 15 January 2013 after a long illness. Her funeral was held at Serbian Orthodox Church of Saint Sava in Notting Hill on 24 January 2013. Her uncle the Duke of Edinburgh, Queen Anne-Marie of Greece , and her nephew Alexander, Crown Prince of Yugoslavia , were among the mourners. [5]

Margarita died on 24 April 1981 in a clinic in Bad Wiessee, Bavaria, six days after her 76th birthday. Attended by her brother the Duke of Edinburgh, her funeral took place in Langenburg, [217] where she was buried alongside her husband.
