Personal life. Henson and Jane Nebel were married on May 28, 1959, in a small ceremony at Nebel's family home. Their children are Lisa (b. 1960), Cheryl (b. 1961), Brian (b. 1963), John (1965–2014), and Heather (b. 1970). Henson and his wife separated in 1986, although they remained close for the rest of his life.
Jim Henson was an American puppeteer, animator, cartoonist and filmmaker, equally popular with children and adults. Today he is also remembered as the creator of the Muppets, a term he devised by melding two words; ‘marionettes’ and ‘puppets’.
