George Boole foi um matem ́atico que buscou explicar as leis do pensamento por meio da l ́ogica. Seu trabalho de maior destaque foi o livro Investigation of the Laws of Thought - As leis do pensamento. Ao longo da vida, Boole incorporou a l ́ogica `a matem ́atica e assim estabeleceu uma ́algebra.
A álgebra de Boole foi desenvolvida pelo matemático George Boole (1.815-1.864) para tratar de problemas de lógica e raciocíniocom afirmativas do tipo verdadeiro-falso. Essa álgebra permaneceu como parte da matemática pura até sua aplicação prática em circuitos de chaveamento por Claude Shanon em 1.938.
