, unofficially dubbed as FNAF Plus Restored is an indie point-and-click fangame developed by LostPawPlay, ripped directly from Phisnom's cancelled project Five Nights at Freddy's Plus. The final release of FNAF Plus Restored would release months after the official cancellation of Phisnom's Fazbear Fanverse project Five Nights at Freddy's Plus.

Prior to the official version releasing, LostPawPlay was both praised and infamous for ripping assets from teasers of FNAF Plus revealed by Phisnom and altering these teasers to further contribute to his iteration of FNAF Plus, which would spawn in upon challenging himself to develop the game within a day. Upon releasing the first version, Yanis would continue to expand on the botched iteration of the game until the release of V5. With the cancellation of FNAF Plus announced months later, LostPawPlay spent a month developing the final product - FNAF Plus Restored.

FNAF Plus Restored is not storydriven, however snippets of lore are exclusively present in its Restored version. In the game, our player takes the role of an unknown night-guard (heavily implied to be either Michael Afton) who takes a job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. During their shift, they are tasked with warding off hidden paranormal figures in the pizzeria while defending off against the animatronics in their cramped office space.

As LostPawPlay was constructing the fifth version of FNAF Plus Restored, a sequel titled Fazbear's Fright Attraction was released. Following the same pattern as FNAF Plus, the game retained the classic gameplay of Scott Cawthon's Five Nights at Freddy's 3 but with remastered assets, minor modifications, and easter eggs. Additionally, a Five Nights at Freddy's 4 remaster was planned before LostPawPlay found himself embroiled with controversy.

FNAF Plus Restored was initiated by LostPawPlay as a personal challenge to create Five Nights at Freddy's Plus within a day using Clickteam Fusion. On February 20, 2023, upon uploading the his development process on Youtube, he included a download for the release, FNAF Plus V1. The game served as an early tech-demo for what was to come, offering limited content including Freddy Fazbear and Bonnie, one night, only six basic cameras, none of which had unique features (most were modified versions of Scott Cawthon's FNaF 1 assets or borrowed from FNAF Plus Teasers), and overall roughness in gameplay.

With a determined effort to release FNAF Plus ahead of Phisnom's official game with the same name, LostPawPlay swiftly launched the second version of FNAF Plus Restored on February 26 of that same year, just a week after its initial release. This updated version featured the addition of Foxy and Chica as playable characters and included an intriguing Atari cutscene, setting the stage for a night-guard trapped in a confined room, seemingly on the brink of being captured by Foxy.

Continuing the momentum, the third version of FNAF Plus Restored yet another mere week after on March 1 of that same year. This iteration significantly expanded the gameplay experience by fully fleshing out Chica's Pizza mechanic, signifying the need to accept her needs whenever she is located standing in the right door corridor. Additionally, it proudly unveiled the inclusion of five nights for players to conquer, marking a noteworthy milestone in the development of the game.

On March 24, 2023, LostPawPlay surprised fans by releasing both a patch for the third version, 3.5, and the fourth version, 4.0, of FNAF Plus Restored simultaneously. These two versions were almost identical, with the exception of 4.0 completely revamping Chica's mechanics. In this version, Chica remained hidden from the player, and her needs were indicated through a flashing cease icon on the camera, rather than her physically appearing in the office hallway. The most notable change between 3.5 and 4.0 was the introduction new and unique camera assets. The Main Stage camera featured Bonnie and Freddy staring directly into the camera, giving players an eerie sense of being watched. The Left Hall Corner camera showed Bonnie twitching and displaying unpredictable behavior, adding an extra layer of tension to the gameplay experience.

Just a month before the cancellation of Phisnom's Five Nights at Freddy's Plus, LostPawPlay surprised fans once again by releasing the fifth version of FNAF Plus. This version was released nearly two months after the fourth version and was a significant milestone for LostPawPlay, as it showcased an extended amount of effort and marked the first game in the series to receive substantial attention. Version 5.0 of FNAF Plus served as a complete reboot to the previous four games, which had been mostly expansions upon expansions. The game introduced a remastered main menu with an Extras menu, allowing players to access additional content. It also included a Custom Night mode, providing players with the ability to customize their gameplay experience. The fifth version featured remastered gameplay, with entirely recreated assets inspired by Phisnom's teasers. It also introduced a faithful full night-cycle, where each night featured a different animatronic becoming active, rather than simply increasing difficulty. Foxy received his iconic mechanic in Pirate's Cove, adding to the authenticity of the gameplay experience.

Following the cancellation of FNAF Plus in August 2023, LostPawPlay made a solemn promise to deliver the experience that fans were eagerly anticipating. Armed with newfound knowledge of Clickteam and its engine, LostPawPlay decided to start from scratch and recreate FNAF Plus from the ground up. Initially, LostPawPlay kept quiet about his recreation efforts, but he eventually released an announcement trailer in early October. This trailer ignited the excitement of fans once again, reigniting their anticipation for the game. While LostPawPlay initially planned to release the game on Halloween, unforeseen challenges, including personal health issues and hospitalization, forced him to adjust his schedule. Consequently, he released the game one day earlier, on October 30, 2023. The newest version of FNAF Plus Restored, dubbed the ultimate version, utilized high-quality assets previously teased by Phisnom. Additionally, LostPawPlay painstakingly recreated old assets like the Office to enhance the game's overall visual appeal. The game boasted numerous easter eggs featuring Golden Freddy and Spring Bonnie, intriguing phone calls, and a remastered camera system to elevate the player's experience. However, the game found itself embroiled in controversy due to the phone calls included within the game. This controversy divided the fanbase, with some praising the game's recreation while others took issue with the content and its implications. Despite the controversy, FNAF Plus Restored garnered praise for its impressive recreation and attention to detail.

During its development, FNAF Plus Restored underwent a series of updates and changes, with the first three versions serving as expansions to the initial release. These updates brought significant alterations and improvements to the game's development. The initial release of FNAF Plus Restored established the game's foundation, introducing core mechanics and gameplay elements. However, it heavily relied on modified versions of assets created by Scott Cawthon or Phisnom, lacking unique content. Bonnie follows a path from the Left Hall to the player's Office, passing through the Backstage. Similarly, Freddy travels from the Kitchen to the Right Hall. In the second version of FNAF Plus Restored, Chica and Foxy were added to the game. Chica primarily functions as a hidden antagonist, requiring players to cook pizzas remotely through the cameras to keep her at bay. On the other hand, Foxy occasionally appears in the Office when the player lowers the camera. To avoid being caught by Foxy, players must quickly raise the monitor.

FNaF Plus Restored's fifth version and final release aimed for a greater level of faithfulness to Scott Cawthon's original Five Nights at Freddy's. The game meticulously recreated the exact features and animatronic placements found in the original game. Players experienced the same challenges and encounters as they would in Five Nights at Freddy's, providing a nostalgic and authentic gameplay experience. Only a few gameplay changes, such as Bonnie's tendency to lead towards and break the cameras, were added as a shocking addition to capitalize on its scare-factor after the cancellation of Phisnom's teased experience.

Our player presumably takes the role of Michael Afton, going undercover under the alias Mike Schmidt, taking a job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. Assigned to investigate paranormal activity, he soon discovers that the animatronics are possessed by vengeful souls. These spirits relentlessly try to reach him and his office. Mike spends five nights defending himself against the animatronics, but on the final night, The Puppet confronts him. The Puppet reveals itself to be Mike's missing brother and asks for help in setting the children's souls free by burning down the pizzeria.

While the lore is vague, it is presumed that the story of the game takes place in an alternate universe centering around the plot featured in the official Five Nights at Freddy's movie, with the ultimate twist that Garrett Schmidt is The Puppet, much like the movies teased sequel planned to release.

Throughout the development of FNAF Plus Restored, the game faced a mixed reception leading up to its final release. Some fans expressed justified frustration towards the developer's decision to borrow assets from Phisnom's game, as it seemed like an attempt to hastily recreate what had originally taken Phisnom a year to develop for his Fanverse game. Fans argued that Phisnom had been intentionally stalling the release of his game, leading to this controversial situation.

It wasn't until a controversy surrounding Phisnom emerged that LostPawPlay took matters into his own hands and created his own fangame, releasing the fifth version of FNAF Plus. This version was praised by fans for its adherence to graphics similar to the original game and ultimately providing them with a playable experience. Ultimately, the final version of FNAF Plus, V6, proved to be the best iteration compared to its previous five versions. It featured replicated graphics instead of ripped assets, addressed the issue of missing cameras from the earlier builds, and included Easter eggs that hinted at LostPawPlay's already-released second project, Fazbear's Fright Attraction.

    Viruses & Telgram Downloads

LostPawPlay, unable to upload his versions of FNAF Plus Restored on Gamejolt, resorted to sharing the game files through his Telegram channel. This required fans to create a Telegram account in order to access the game. However, it is important to note that LostPawPlay's actions were both unethical and illegal. By uploading closely-replicated versions of Scott Cawthon's games against his wishes, LostPawPlay violated copyright laws. Additionally, LostPawPlay's actions went against the contract Clickteam had with Phisnom, explicitly prohibiting Phisnom to affiliate with/develop anything related to Five Nights at Freddy's. In turn, this resulted in Phisnom removing all of his projects off Gamejolt. Due to the complex process of downloading the game from Telegram, fans took matters into their own hands and began illegally uploading the game to Gamejolt. This, in turn, prompted Gamejolt's moderation team to swiftly remove the unauthorized uploads, aligning with Scott's wishes. However, due to the widespread popularity of the game, malicious hackers took advantage of the situation and injected malware into LostPawPlay's games, then uploaded the infected files onto Gamejolt. This understandably outraged fans. To this day, this issue remains unresolved, with LostPawPlay mostly remaining unresponsive as he cannot be solely blamed for the actions of others.

    Use of AI Voice Replication

In the latest release of FNAF Plus Restored, LostPawPlay utilized an AI Voice Synthesizer to replicate Scott Cawthon's voice. This was done with the intention of creating a more fitting and nostalgic take on the phone calls in his version of the game. However, upon the game's release, fans on Twitter began calling out the use of AI Voice Replication, as it was generally frowned upon. Additionally, POPGOES developer Kane Carter, would respectively call out YouTubers such as Dawko, FusionZGamer, and 8-BitRyan on their videos treating the game as if it was the official version, and would criticize LostPawPlay for profiting off of someone else's designs, concepts, and more. The controversy surrounding this decision escalated to the point where Scott Cawthon himself responded to the situation Scott Cawthon himself would ask the YouTubers to remove their videos. Cawthon would additionally make a statement on Reddit regarding the use of AI on Reddit. He expressed his lack of appreciation for his voice, as well as the voices of the official voice actors for the FNaF franchise, being replicated using AI technology. This response from Scott Cawthon prompted LostPawPlay to post a vague image on social media with the caption #GoodbyeFNAFPlus. Fans quickly examined and brightened the image, revealing a series of text expressing LostPawPlay's sorrow over the removal of FNAF Plus. However, rather than accepting the apology, fans on Twitter mocked LostPawPlay for attempting to apologize through a teaser image styled in the manner of Scott Cawthon's teaser images. As a result, LostPawPlay later released a formal apology on a Google Document, apologizing to those he had disappointed. Despite LostPawPlay's previous statement about no longer working on the game, he expressed a desire to release a tribute build of FNAF Plus Restored. This tribute build would involve removing the AI Phone calls. As of November 18, 2023, LostPawPlay received assistance from Twisted Mind Studios, the creators of The Return to Bloody Nights, who contributed with voice acting through their lovable phone guy character, Wathel Broggie, to make a cameo appearance as the new phone guy in FNAF Plus Restored. LostPawPlay also stated that he hoped to obtain Scott Cawthon's permission to reupload the game. He took to Twitter to communicate this, but it seemed unlikely that he would receive a response from Scott Cawthon, as he had not yet responded to the request.
