Argus Filch was a Squib and the caretaker of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry since around 1973. Filch usually wandered around the school corridors with his cat Mrs Norris, trying to catch students breaking the school rules and complaining about Peeves the Poltergeist .

Caretaker of Hogwarts school, Argus Filch was one of the least popular members of staff. Usually followed by his faithful cat and most effective spy, Mrs Norris, Filch was never far from any students causing mess or trouble and was always keen to dole out punishments for any minor misdemeanour.
