•Despite the onscreen credit for the "Two-Fisted Tales" comic book, this was not based on any EC Comic and was actually an original story.
•Was originally produced as part of a TV anthology pilot called Two Fisted Tales made by the same producers of Tales from the Crypt. Conceived as a more suspense/thriller driven series featuring a ghostly gunfighter Mr. Rush (played by William Sadler), the pilot was ultimately not picked up for series. However, two of its segments (King of the Road and Yellow) were reworked into episodes of Crypt. The Two Fisted Tales pilot did air as a TV movie on January 18th 1992, several months before King of the Road aired as this episode.
•The movie was shot in 1992. Iceman's incident took place 27 years earlier making that year 1965.
•The title is based on the 1965 song "King of the Road" written and recorded by country singer Roger Miller.
