    Imbuing is the action of temporarily boosting an equipment item using Astral Sources which are usually expensive (eg. rope belt). Imbuements can be applied to any item with imbuement slots, but each imbuement is only available for a particular set of items or item types.

    The imbuing system was first presented to players as a Dev Note on August 18, 2016.

    Imbuements can be applied to a limited set of items which have imbuement slots. The type of imbuements available depends on the item. Generally, the item's type will determine which imbuements are permitted; however, there are exceptions to this rule: for example, Rod and Wand of Destruction can have imbuements that are unavailable to most rods and wands. The table of imbuements below provides a general guide to which type of items can accept each imbuement. An item with multiple imbuement slots can have multiple distinct imbuements, but may not have the same type of imbuement applied to the item. For example, an item imbued with Basic Electrify cannot have Intricate or Powerful Electrify applied to it in its other imbuement slots, and at the same time, the weapon with Basic Electrify cannot be imbued with any level of another elemental damage imbuement like Reap, Venom, etc.

    The imbuement bonuses available are elemental damage, elemental protection, skill boosts (including speed), critical hit, hit points leech, mana leech, extra Capacity and Paralysis deflection. Items with an initial elemental damage, or a positive or negative elemental protection or skill boost cannot be imbued with the respective imbuements.

    Each imbuement lasts for 20 hours of use, after which the item loses the imbuement. Imbuements can be reapplied to an item that has lost its imbuement. Whether an imbuement is in use or not depends on the type of imbuement, in particular:

    •Non-combat imbuements, such as speed- or capacity-boosting imbuements, are in use while the item is equipped.

    •Combat imbuements are active while the item is equipped and the player is in combat.

    •"In combat" means that the wielder has been in combat. Note that the absence of the Logout Block does not indicate being out-of-combat, because being in a Protection Zone merely hides the Logout Block.

    To imbue an item, you need to follow these steps:

    •Complete the first part of the Forgotten Knowledge Quest to unlock the first two levels of each imbuement. Please note that additional quests are required to unlock the third and most powerful imbuement.

    •Gather the Creature Products required for the desired imbuement.

    •Visit an Imbuing Shrine and use it on the item you want to imbue.

    Attack Imbuements

    Melee Weapons as well as two-handed Distance Weapons (i.e. Bows and Crossbows) that are imbued with elemental attack will deal damage at a fixed percentage along with the remaining Physical damage. •Usually, melee weapons with native elemental damage cannot be imbued with elemental imbuements. The mechanic is quite simple with melee weapons, as every hit will split the damage between the physical and elemental damage and then the target's sensibilities and resistances to said damage will be applied. •Instead, imbued Distance weapons work differently: The imbuement is applied to the Bow/Crossbow when the total damaged is calculated with the bow's/crossbow's hit rate and attack modifier along with the fired ammunition's attack value and hit rate, then the damage is reduced or increased by the target's sensibilities and resistances. Finally, the elemental damage imbuement will not work with area ammunition such as Diamond and Burst Arrows nor native-elemental ammunition, such as Envenomed and Flash Arrows. Still, the imbuement's time will be consumed.

    Basic imbuements can be applied by all players upon completing the first part of the Forgotten Knowledge Quest. To add intricate imbuements to items, players need to have a Premium Account and complete the first part of the quest. Powerful imbuements are unlocked via completing additional quests or defeating specific bosses, as listed below:

    •Powerful Reap, Lich Shroud – defeating Lady Tenebris;

    •Powerful Cloud Fabric, Electrify, Swiftness – defeating Lloyd;

    •Powerful Snake Skin, Venom, Bash, Slash, Chop – defeating The Enraged Thorn Knight;

    •Powerful Scorch, Dragon Hide – defeating Soul of Dragonking Zyrtarch;

    •Powerful Frost, Quara Scale, Blockade – defeating Melting Frozen Horror;
