The North Korean national flag is officially defined in article 170 of Chapter VII of the North Korean constitution. According to it: The national flag of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea consists of a central red panel, bordered both above and below by a narrow white stripe and a broad blue stripe.
The flag was introduced on July 10, 1948, two months before the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea was proclaimed. Previously, however, the traditional Korean t’aegŭk flag of white with a central red-blue disk and four sets of black bars was official in North Korea.
