Basically GooglePlusBot is what opens the link in Google Messages to create a link preview. The SMS arrives in Google Messages with a link to reset your password. This triggers an account alert from Instagram since the bot is located in Mountain View, CA and is a new device.

At the same time I get a new login alert from Instagram that says a GooglePlus Bot Linux user has logged in from Mountain View California. When I check the account in the app it prompts me and asks if it was me.
