Charles Napier Hemy. Widely viewed as the most accomplished marine artist of his generation, Charles Napier Hemy first came to public attention with the Pre-Raphaelite work ‘Among the Shingle at Clovelly’ in 1864. He was still painting with vigour and exhibiting widely until his death in 1917.
