AERO provides a framework for curriculum consistency across grades K-12 and for stability of curriculum in overseas schools, which typically have a high rate of teacher turnover.

Following the organization of the Common Core State Standards, the AERO ELA Framework is organized by four strands: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking, and Language Foundations and uses individual grade levels in kindergarten through grade 8 and two-year bands in grades 9–12.
