Wiltwyck Rural Cemetery was founded on March 20, 1856 at a “…meeting of Citizens of Kingston, Ulster County, convened at Brown’s Hotel in the Village of Kingston for the purpose of forming a Cemetery Association under the Act of the Legislature of the State New York passed April 27, 1847.”.
