He was the son of Sir John Sedley, 2nd Baronet, of Aylesford in Kent, and his wife Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Henry Savile.
Sir Charles Sedley was a member of the aristocracy in British Isles. Charles Sedley MP is Notable. Charles was the posthumus son of Sir John Sedley and his widow, Elizabeth Savile and was baptised on 30 March 1639 at St Clement Danes in the Strand.
