The Order of the Elephant (Danish: Elefantordenen) is a Danish order of chivalry and is Denmark's highest-ranked honour. It has origins in the 15th century, but has officially existed since 1693, and since the establishment of constitutional monarchy in 1849, is now almost exclusively used to honour royalty and heads of state.

A Ordem do Elefante ou Ordem do Elefante Branco[ 1] (em dinamarquês Elefantordenen ou Den Hvide Elefants orden) é a mais alta e a mais antiga condecoração do Reino da Dinamarca e uma das mais antigas da Europa.
Elephants belong to the family Elephantidae, the sole remaining family within the order Proboscidea. Their closest extant relatives are the sirenians ( dugongs and manatees ) and the hyraxes , with which they share the clade Paenungulata within the superorder Afrotheria . [6]
