Norman Manuel Abramson (April 1, 1932 – December 1, 2020) was an American engineer and computer scientist, most known for developing the ALOHAnet system for wireless computer communication.

7 de dez. de 2020 · Biography. Norman Abramson is a pioneer in the field of wireless and local area networking. While at the University of Hawaii, he led efforts that gave rise to the construction and operation of the ALOHANet, the first wireless packet network, and to the development of the theory of random access ALOHA channels.
History. One of the early computer networking designs, development of the ALOHA network was begun in September 1968 at the University of Hawaii under the leadership of Norman Abramson and Franklin Kuo, along with Thomas Gaarder, Shu Lin, Wesley Peterson and Edward ("Ned") Weldon.
