Dame Edith Ngaio Marsh, DBE (23 April 1895 – 18 February 1982) was a mystery writer of detective novels. Between 1934 - 1982 she had published 32 novels featuring British CID detective Roderick Alleyn (later Chief Superintendent) which are set mainly in England, with four in New Zealand.
