Maria Josepha of Saxony (Maria Josepha Karolina Eleonore Franziska Xaveria; 4 November 1731 – 13 March 1767) was a Dauphine of France and daughter-in-law of Louis XV. Marie Josèphe was the mother of three kings of France, including the doomed Louis XVI, who died under the guillotine during the French Revolution.
The dauphine of France (/ ˈ d ɔː f iː n, d ɔː ˈ f iː n /, also US: / ˈ d oʊ f iː n, d oʊ ˈ f iː n /, French:) was the wife of the dauphin of France (the heir apparent to the French throne). The position was analogous to a crown princess (the wife of a crown prince and heir apparent to a throne).

Biography. Daughter of Augustus II, Prince-Elector of Saxony and king of Poland; Consort of Louis, Dauphin of France (q.v.); married in 1747; she bore him eight children, including the future Louis XVI, Louis XVIII and Charles X.
