Margaret Beaufort (c. 1437 – 1474) was a daughter of Edmund Beaufort, 2nd Duke of Somerset and Lady Eleanor Beauchamp. Her maternal grandparents were Richard de Beauchamp, 13th Earl of Warwick and his first wife Elizabeth Beauchamp, 4th Baroness Lisle.

Lady Margaret Beaufort (31 May 1441 – 29 June 1509), of the House of Lancaster, was the mother of King Henry VII of England, and grandmother of Henry VIII. She was an important figure in the Wars of the Roses. Lady Margaret Hall, a college of the University of Oxford, is named after her.
Now crowned King Henry VII, Margaret became the Countess of Richmond and Derby and was given the Lady of the Order of the Garter. Lady Margaret Beaufort had, against all odds and with a great deal of political acumen, secured her son as King of England.
