The construction of the Bukit Jalil National Stadium began in March 1994 and was fully completed in 1998 with the opening of the biggest event, the XVI Commonwealth Games - Kuala Lumpur '98. The 108m x 65m field is girdled by a nine-lanes 400meters synthetic track built in accordance to specifications of international sports bodies.
